8 Tips to Make Your Hair Grow Faster Naturally

Written by

If you are trying to grow out a style or aiming for a long, flowing tresses look, the ½ – ¾ inch which the hair grows every month can feel like a frustratingly slow process. The hair growth rate is largely set by your genes and although there is little evidence to support the claims of any product – chemical or natural – which claims it can speed up that process there are things which you can do.
The fastest growing hair is that resulting from a healthy body and more specifically a healthy scalp and hair follicles. If you look after those then the hair your body produces will be growing at the maximum speed possible, in the best condition it can be.

Hair is essentially dead and if you have long hair the ends are going to be old – sometimes many years old. By taking good care of the condition of your hair you will ensure that every time you go for that trim you only have to have the smallest amount taken away; a sure fire way to make sure that your hair grows at the fastest rate possible.

1.) Drink lots of water – this one is a no brainer because everyone knows that one of the simplest ways to ensure healthy body functions is by drinking lots of water and of course healthy body = healthy hair growth.

2.) Rinse your hair – Use apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair after shampooing. This isn’t a scientifically proven way to stimulate hair follicles but many swear by it.

3.) Use a Conditioning Mask – Use a deep treatment/intensive conditioning mask on your hair regularly to keep it in tip-top condition. You don’t have to spend a fortune – the Internet is full of recipes and suggestions for making your own completely natural alternatives.

4.) Ditch the heat appliances – an almost impossible suggestion for many of us girls but overuse of hair-dryers, hair-straighteners and the like are one of the fastest routes to dry, damaged hair. This in turn takes us back to the first point – if your hair is weak and damaged then every time your hair is cut a greater amount will have to be trimmed from the ends. If you must use heat appliances try and keep it to a minimum.

5.) Egg White Conditioning Mask – Use an egg white conditioning mask on your hair to make it healthier and stronger and less liable to that damage which results in split ends and dryness.

6.) Use Hair Friendly Oils – Use hot oil to deep treat your hair and scalp. Jojoba, coconut and olive oil can all be used here.

7.) Diet – a healthy diet means strong healthy hair. Make sure you are getting enough of the following:

  • protein – this is a critical component in a diet intended to promote healthy hair
growth as hair is actually made up of protein substances. Eat chicken, turkey,
    dairy, eggs, legumes and nuts.
  • iron – your hair follicle and consequently hair root may be starved of a nutrient
rich blood supply if your iron is too low, Eat red meat, chicken, fish, spinach and
    broccoli.
  • Vitamin C – assists the body to absorb iron
  • Omega-3 – your body can’t make this so it needs a dietary supply to keep your
scalp and hair hydrated. Eat oily fish such as salmon, herring and sardine and also
    avocado, pumpkin seeds and walnuts.
  • Vitamin A – your hairs’ sebaceous glands produce sebum which conditions your
scalp and Vitamin A is needed for this process. Eat carrots, pumpkins and sweet
    potatoes.
  • biotin – if you lack in this B vitamin your hair will become brittle. Eat
wholegrains, liver, egg yolks, soy and yeast.

8.) Head massage – head and scalp massage are thought to encourage an increased blood supply to the scalp and hair follicle which promotes hair growth. There are 3 methods you can use –

  • rotate your fingers in small circles over the whole scalp
  • gently tap your fingertips over your scalp with a rapid action
  • dig your fingers into your hair and gently pull so that you can feel a slight tug on the roots
