I mean, let’s face it, store brought items are not only costly, they are also laden with toxins and chemicals that can you leave your lips feeling all chapped and dry at the end of the day. But with these homemade options you don’t need to worry about that and your lips will feel fresh and moisturized for hours after each application. Best of all, because these are toxin free, over the time your lips will become all lovely and luscious. So make sure to try these at home and I guarantee you that you will never go back to store brought stuff again. And I can tell this from personal experience.

Homemade Lip Balm Using Bee’s Wax

This all-natural lip balm which you can make using bee’s wax is a wonderful moisturizer and can keep your lips supple and moist for many hours. And the best part is that this balm is completely free of toxins and petroleum residue that are present in store brought products like chap-sticks.

Ingredients: The ingredients you need to make your own lip balm include 100% natural bee’s wax, sweet almond oil, coconut oil (preferably extra virgin coconut oil), cocoa butter or Shea butter, a heat resistant glass bowl, a funnel and a lip-balm container. That’s about it. You should be able to get all these ingredients online or buy them from an organic store. Lip balm tubes can be brought on Amazon or Ebay.

Procedure: Take half an ounce of bee’s wax, cut it into smaller pieces and put in a heat resistant glass bowl. Place this bowl in a pan of boiling water to get the double boiling effect. This helps in getting the wax from getting burnt while it melts. Once the wax melts, add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and stir it with a stick till it melts and mixes well with the bee’s wax. Now add one teaspoon of cocoa butter and 2 teaspoons of sweet almond oil. You can also add a teaspoon of Shea butter if you want.

Once this is done, carry the bowl out of the boiling water and pour the melted mixture into a lip balm tube using a funnel. Leave this to rest for about 10 minutes at room temperature. And you are done!

Homemade Lipstick using Crayons

Crayons can be used to make lipsticks? That’s right and the best part is that the lipsticks made out of crayons are non-toxic and completely safe to use as opposed to some lipsticks that are available in stores. In addition to that, crayons come in a range of colors and can be mixed and matched to make an array of multicolored lipsticks that you can add to your makeup collection.

Ingredients: All you need to make these amazing lipsticks is coconut oil, crayola crayons, heat resistant glass bowl and of-course a container to store your lipsticks in.

Procedure: Take your favorite color of crayon, cut about a inch and remove the paper wrapper. Now place this in a heat resistant glass bowl. Fill a pot with one cup of water and heat it over low flame. Place your bowl in this pot and add half a teaspoon of coconut oil in it. Once the oil melts, add your crayon piece in it and let it melt. Once it’s all melted, take the bowl out and pour the melted mixture inside a container. Let it set for about an hour and you have your own homemade lipstick!

Lip Plumper using Cinnamon Essential Oil

You can make your own lip plumper at home using bee’x wax and pure cinnamon essential oil for the plumping effect.

Ingredients: You will need bee’s wax, cinnamon essential oil, extra virgin coconut oil, a glass bowl and containers.

Procedure: Similar to making your lip-balm, put bee’s wax in a heat resistant bowl and place it in a pot of boiling water. Now add a teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil and let it melt. Once melted, take the bowl with the mixture off the boiling water and add a few drops of cinnamon essential oil. Make sure not to add too many drops as that might sting your lips.
